Termites and other wood-destroying insects, including carpenter ants, carpenter bees, and powder post beetles are much more than a nuisance.  These insects cause serious structural damage to homes and other structures in the United States each year.  The damage costs an estimated one billion dollars per year to repair.  Subterranean termites cause the most damage and their presence is sometimes hard to detect because they live underground.  Homeowners will often have extensive damage before they see the live insects themselves.

A wood destroying insect inspection can identify an infestation or existing damage that could cost a new home buyer thousands of dollars down the road for repairs and or treatment.  Current homeowners can save money with regularly scheduled inspections and treatment.  A licensed professional should be contacted for evaluation and treatment due to the broad range of available treatment options.

We inspect the home and detached garage for termites and other wood-destroying insects.  The inspection will include the grading, foundation, exterior and interior walls, porches and decks, and the accessible areas in the crawlspace, basement and attic.  We will be looking for things such as mud shelter tubes, insect parts (wings) in spider webs, insect frass, existing damage, etc.  We also look for conditions conducive to insect infestation.  These include but aren’t limited to, siding in contact with soil, vegetation, wood, leaves, or other debris too close to the homes sill plate or other wooden structural members.  Plumbing leaks in the crawlspace or basement and clogged gutters can also be a cause of an infestation.

The wood destroying insect inspection results are delivered via email on the NPMA-33 form.
